A bit about me….
Hi, my name is Zuri Alija Evans-Hendricks.
I’m 13 years old. I was born in New York City and have lived in the historic neighborhood of Harlem my entire life. If I could time travel, I'd visit the 1920s to see the Harlem Renaissance and the beautiful work that made the neighborhood I live in today so famous. If I had to describe myself in three words, I'd say I'm versatile, curious, and sometimes a little bit nerdy. The soundtrack to my life would include songs by beabadoobee, especially when I'm practicing piano. That music helps me feel calm and reminds me that I should never say I can’t do something. I'm not afraid of much, but if I had to pick one thing that gives me the creeps, it would be spiders. When I run into a challenge, like being nervous before something difficult I’ve faced, I usually use prayer to get me through it. I believe that challenges are just chances to learn new things. As a friend, I'm the one who always seeks to help when someone's feeling down. My friends say I'm independent and energetic - unless it's Monday morning, then I'm just tired and cranky. I'm curious, creative, and people often say that I am brave because I have done trapeze. I am excited for boarding school because I believe I will thrive, step out of my comfort zone, and meet people who love trying new things as much as I do.
